190623-N-DX072-1166 PACIFIC OCEAN (June 23, 2019) Marines assigned to the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) Maritime Raid Force board the amphibious dock landing ship USS Ashland (LSD 48) from a Rigid-Hull Inflatable Boat (RHIB) assigned to the amphibious transport dock ship USS Green Bay (LPD 20) as part of a visit, board, search and seizure (VBSS) rehearsal. Green Bay and Ashland, part of the Wasp Amphibious Ready Group, with embarked 31st MEU, are operating in the Indo-Pacific region to enhance interoperability with partners and serve as a ready-response force for any type of contingency.
