Equipment Operator 1st Class Jon M. Wawrek, assigned to Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) 11, prepares a water sample for lead and pesticide testing. The water is from a flowing artesian water well that NMCB-11 capped the previous day in the Panjwai District of Zangabad, Afghanistan. NMCB-11 is homeported in Gulfport, Miss., and deployed to Afghanistan to conduct general, mobility, survivability engineering operations and defensive operations.
