Col. John E. Kasperski and Col. Tomoyuki Hagi speak to Marines, Japan Ground Self-Defense Force members and local media outlets during the opening ceremony of Exercise Forest Light 12-2 here March 4. The purpose of Forest Light 12-2 is to enhance the interoperability of Marines and JGSDF members while increasing individual and unit readiness in a cold weather environment. Kasperski is the commanding officer for Combat Logistics Regiment 37, 3rd Marine Logistics Group, III Marine Expeditionary Force . Hagi is the commanding officer for 4th Infantry Regiment, 5th Brigade, JGSDF.
