Marines and Japan Ground Self-Defense Force members stand in formation during the opening ceremony for exercise Forest Light 12-2 here March 4. The Marines from Combat Logistics Regiments 35 and 37, 3rd Marine Logistics Group, III Marine Expeditionary Force, are here to conduct Forest Light 12-2 with members from 4th Infantry Regiment, 5th Brigade, JGSDF. The purpose of Forest Light 12-2 is to enhance the interoperability of Marines and JGSDF members while increasing individual and unit readiness in a cold weather environment.
