U.S. Air Force Lt. Col. James Pearson reads an emotional note to the family of Lt. Col. Joseph Mikeal, as they tour the 145th Airlift Wing’s new state of the art operations building that now shares his name, at the North Carolina Air National Guard Base, Charlotte Douglas International Airport, June 9, 2019. Lt. Col. Mikeal tragically lost his life alongside 3 other C-130 crew members in the MAFFS 7 aircraft accident in 2012, the 145th Airlift Wing honored his and the other crew members sacrifice by naming four buildings across the wing after each one.
