JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (June 4, 2019) – Hospitalman Scarlett Vigil, a surgical technician at Naval Hospital Jacksonville, retrieves instruments for surgeons during a laparoscopy in the O.R. Vigil, a native of Midland, Texas, was awarded NH Jacksonville’s Culture of Patient Safety Award for fostering a culture of safety and high reliability. “It’s our job to ensure that every patient receives the same high standard of care, every day, with every procedure.” On June 17, the Navy’s most decorated rating celebrates 121 years of service. The Hospital Corps is the only enlisted corps in the military and the hospital corpsman rating is the largest and most diverse in the Navy.
