Seaman Mike Nunnery, a boatswains mate, loads a .50-caliber machine gun aboard the Coast Guard Cutter Cochito as it prepares to escort the decommissioned aircraft carrier USS John F. Kennedy while it is towed into the Port of Hampton Roads on Aug. 1. The Kennedy will be moored temporarily at Naval Operating Base Norfolk before being taken to its new permanent home in Philadelphia. The Cochito is an 87-foot patrol boat based in Norfolk, Va., whose missions include port and waterways safety and security, enforcement of federal fisheries regulations, and search and rescue.
