Sgt. Hargrove, a native of Aransas Pass, Texas, graduated from Aransas Pass High School in July 2013 before enlisting later the same month. Alpha Company Marines are the small boat raid specialists for BLT 1/4, the Ground Combat Element for the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit. The “Steel Beach” was an opportunity for the Marines and Sailors of the 31st MEU and the crew of the Ashland to build camaraderie and take a breather during operations. The 31st MEU, the Marine Corps’ only continuously forward-deployed MEU partnering with the Wasp Amphibious Ready Group provides a flexible and lethal force ready to perform a wide range of military operations as the premier crisis response force in the Indo-Pacific region.
