Lance Cpl. Demarco Davis and Lance Cpl. Davis, a radio operator and native of Fort Wayne, Indiana, graduated from North Side High School in June 2016 before enlisting in April 2017. Vanvleet, a network administrator and native of Chesapeake, Virginia, graduated from Great Bridge High School in June 2013 before enlisting in October 2017. CLB-31 provides security, logistics, and transportation as the Logistics Combat Element for the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit. The “Steel Beach” was an opportunity for the Marines and Sailors of the 31st MEU and the crew of the Ashland to build camaraderie and take a breather during operations. The 31st MEU, the Marine Corps’ only continuously forward-deployed MEU partnering with the Wasp Amphibious Ready Group provides a flexible and lethal force ready to perform a wide range of military operations as the premier crisis response force in the Indo-Pacific region.
