Whidbey Island is deployed to the U.S. 6th Fleet area of responsibility conducting maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts. Whidbey Island is deployed as part of the Bataan Amphibious Ready Group and is returning to her homeport in Little Creek, Va., after being relieved by the Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group Jan. 5.
