Fallon Emery, a new honorary member of the 437th Operations Support Squadron, sees her official photo in the wing headquarters building Nov. 7, 2018, at Joint Base Charleston, S.C., as part of the Airman for a Day program. During her visit, 14-year-old Emery met with Chief Master Sgt. Ronnie Phillips, 437th Airlift Wing command chief master sergeant and Col. Clint ZumBrunnen, right, 437th AW commander, toured a C-17 Globemaster III aircraft and flight simulator, learned about night vision and other military technology and controlled an explosive ordnance disposal robot. Emery has been battling a glioblastoma multiforme – one of the deadliest forms of brain tumors – for nearly five years after being diagnosed at age nine and given 6-14 weeks to live. The Airman for a Day program recognizes the resilience of children battling various illnesses by enabling them to observe Air Force units and experience their culture for a day.
