U.S. Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class Tyler Nilsson, an Explosives Ordnance Disposal technician augmented to a small but specialized Joint POW/MIA Accounting Command recovery team, takes the GPS coordinates of the pit he has designated as the unexploded ordnance pit. Nilsson, permanently stationed at EOD Mobile Unit 3, Naval Amphibious Base, Coronado, Calif., is augmenting JPAC for a 35-day mission to search for and possibly identify, the remains of seven airmen still unaccounted for from the Vietnam war. The ultimate mission of JPAC, and all the agencies involved, is to achieve the fullest possible accounting of service members still listed as missing from our nation's past conflicts.
