A Joint POW/MIA Accounting Command recovery team outlines an excavated crash site with white engineer tape in preparation to take final site photos. The specialized 9-man team conducted operations on site for 35 days. The crash site will be temporarily closed until another recovery team can be sent in to continue the search for remains or other evidence that could identify missing American servicemen. The ultimate mission of JPAC, and all the agencies involved, is to achieve the fullest possible accounting of service members still listed as missing from our nation's past conflicts.
