181118-N-TP834-0014 (Nov. 18, 2018) CARIBBEAN SEA – Sonar Technician (Surface) 2nd Class Jorge Cardona, from El Paso, Texas, uses a telescopic alidade to monitor for surface contacts in the pilothouse of Pre-Commissioning Unit (PCU) Michael Monsoor (DDG 1001). The future USS Michael Monsoor is the second ship in the Zumwalt-class of guided-missile destroyers. Michael Monsoor is currently transiting to San Diego, and upon arrival, will begin a combat availability and then undergo a combat test period.
