James Edwards, executive officer of Pre-Commissioning Unit (PCU) Michael Monsoor (DDG 1001), ensures the M240B machine gun is clear and safe for Gunner’s Mate 2nd Class Stefani Skiendziel, the line coach, during a live fire gunnery exercise on the flight deck. The future USS Michael Monsoor is the second ship in the Zumwalt-class of guided-missile destroyers. Michael Monsoor is currently transiting to San Diego, and upon arrival, will begin a combat availability and then undergo a combat test period.
