SAN DIEGO (Oct. 31, 2018) – A Federal Fire San Diego fire truck stands by on the pier during a Chapter 13 damage control drill aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island (LHD 8). A Chapter 13 drill is an assessment of the ship’s damage control capabilities while in an extensive maintenance availability. It incorporates ship’s company, members of Federal Fire San Diego, the National City Fire Department and personnel from Southwest Regional Maintenance Center (SWRMC).
