SAN DIEGO (October 31, 2018) – A member of Federal Fire San Diego approaches a simulated fire during a Chapter 13 damage control drill aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island (LHD 8). A Chapter 13 drill is an assessment of the ship’s damage control capabilities while in an extensive maintenance availability. It incorporates ship’s company, members of Federal Fire San Diego, the National City Fire Department and personnel from Southwest Regional Maintenance Center (SWRMC).
