Marine Gunnery Sgt. Deborah Hamner and Gunnery Sgt. Jesse Gerhardt view a marching band from the Finley Stadium press box during the Marine Corps Invitational U.S. Scholastic Band Association 2011 Southern States Championships in Chattanooga, Tenn., Nov. 5, 2011. The event was a chance for high school bands to compete against other schools throughout the southern states. Marines supported the event by presenting a special award that honored the team who best exuded the Marine Corps’ values. Hamner and Gerhardt judged the bands on their level of professionalism in line with the Marine Corps’ values and presented the Esprit de Corps award to the winner.
