A concrete blast wall or T-wall, commonly used at military forward operating bases in the Middle East, has been painted with the New Mexico state flag and name. The lower white section contains numerous handwritten signatures, names, ranks, and inscriptions left by military personnel from New Mexico. This type of wall decoration is a well-documented practice at U.S. military installations in Iraq and Afghanistan, where service members from the same state would gather around their home state's wall.
