EDINBURG, Texas - (Oct. 3, 2018) Cmdr. Jeffrey Reynolds of Raleigh, N.C., commanding officer of Navy Recruiting District San Antonio speaks with physics students regarding collegiate programs, nuclear and aviation careers in America’s Navy during the 2018 Hispanic Engineering, Science and Technology Week (HESTEC) held on the campus of the University of Texas-Rio Grande Valley. Through the support of sponsors and partners, to include the U.S. Navy, HESTEC strives to empower teachers and administrators with the resources to inspire their students to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) through Educators Day, Student Leadership Day, Latina Day, Robotics Day, STEM + ME Expo, and the Navy’s SeaPerch Challenge Competition. Now in its 17th year, HESTEC has been recognized as a “Bright Spot in Hispanic Education” by the White House Initiative on Educational Excellence for Hispanics.
