EDINBURG, Texas – (Oct. 2, 2018) Damage Controlman 2nd Class Patricia Johnston of Great Falls, Mont., assigned to Navy Recruiting Station Harlingen, joined by Hospital Corpsman 2nd Class David Cumpian of Harlingen, Texas, talks with middle school students from IDEA Academy San Juan attending the Hispanic Engineering Science and Technology (HESTEC) STEM + ME Expo held on the campus of the University of Texas-Rio Grande Valley. Through a collaboration with Workforce Solutions, the event included exhibitors from different industries sharing about careers and workforce opportunities. Now in its 17th year, HESTEC has been recognized as a “Bright Spot in Hispanic Education” by the White House Initiative on Educational Excellence for Hispanics.
