Petty Officer 1st Class Ome Firpi, builder, a native of New York City, smooths out freshly-laid gravel at Hachinohe Pump Station No. 2, located in northern Japan. Firpi, assigned to Naval Facilities Engineering Command Far East Detachment Misawa, is prepping the ground for the addition of a temporary work space at the pump station, which was badly damaged following a devastating tsunami triggered by the Great East Japan Earthquake. The pump station is owned and operated by Fleet Logistics Center Yokosuka Detachment Hachinohe, and supplies Misawa Air Base with JP-8 fuel.
