Zane Thomas with Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 24, Marine Air Group 24, 1st Marine Air Wing carries the barrel of the M2 Browning .50 Cal Machine Gun in a quick reaction force drill aboard the SS Curtiss Sept. 10, 2018, in preperation for exercise Valiant Shield. Valiant Shield is a biennial, U.S.-only field training exercise (FTX) with a focus on integration of joint training among U.S. forces in relation to current operational plans.
