Simon Geisler, left, looks at 1st Sgt. David H. McNerney's Medal of Honor Oct. 6. A sergeant with Company A, 1st Battalion, 8th Infantry Regiment, 4th Infantry Division, Geisler served with McNerney during the attacks on March 22, 1967, in the Polei Doc region of Vietnam. McNerney earned the nation's highest honor for his heroic actions that day and bequeathed the medal to the 4th Inf. Div. before his death Oct. 10, 2010.
