Spanish legion soldiers serving in Kabul, Afghanistan, sing “La Muerte no es Final” or “Death is not Final” after presenting a wreath in honor of fallen service members during a Spanish National Day ceremony at the International Security Assistance Force Headquarters, Oct. 13. Ambassador José Rubio de Urquia, front right, the Spanish Ambassador to Afghanistan, and Spanish Col. Puig Terreros, front left, the senior national representative for Spanish troops serving with ISAF, joined nearly 50 Spanish troops serving throughout Kabul along with a number of their international counterparts for the ceremony. While they may not have been able to celebrate on Oct. 12, as their compatriots in Spain did, the troops still felt it important to honor the holiday and pay homage to their fallen comrades. Following the ceremony, the Spaniards and their fellow ISAF service members enjoyed a feast of Spanish foods, including paella and gazpacho.
