Philadelphia native Cpl. Jean Gravil, a supply Marine with 1st Battalion, 12th Marine Regiment, said the experience of this deployment has made him a better person. “Steel sharpens steel,” said Gravil, meaning if you want to better yourself, you have to challenge yourself. The 31-year-old said he looks forward to getting back to the United States because he is expecting his son, Isaac, to be born in January.
