San Diego native Cpl. Johnny Chanda, a field artillery cannoneer with 1st Battalion, 12th Marine Regiment, said he misses most his aunt and uncle and siblings. As his deployment is drawing to a close, he thinks a lot about home in his free time. The 24-year-old said he has learned a lot during this deployment, mostly about living a life without luxury; living every day without a television or a computer has forced him to become creative to keep himself entertained. He keeps busy by working out, reading, and hanging out with the other Marines on the patrol base.
