The image shows the flight deck of a US Navy aircraft carrier with jet aircraft parked on the port side, while a naval escort vessel — likely an Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer — is visible in the distance leaving a prominent white wake. Personnel in red jerseys are visible on the flight deck, indicating active flight deck operations. The scene depicts a carrier strike group underway in open blue ocean waters under clear skies.

ATLANTIC OCEAN (Aug. 30, 2018) The Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Mason (DDG 87) from Destroyer Squadron 2 sails in front of the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72). The USS Abraham Lincoln Carrier Strike Group and USS Harry S. Truman Carrier Strike Group are participating in dual-carrier sustainment and qualification operations in the Atlantic Ocean. In addition to demonstrating the Navy's inherent flexibility and scalability, this evolution provides the opportunity to conduct complex, multi-unit training to enhance maritime interoperability and combat readiness, and prepare the Navy to protect our homeland and preserve and promote peace anywhere around the world.
