The image shows two U.S. Navy warships underway in open ocean, with a large aircraft carrier in the background and what appears to be an Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer in the foreground. Both vessels are generating visible white wakes as they travel at speed. A small aircraft or helicopter is faintly visible in the sky above the carrier.

ATLANTIC OCEAN (Aug. 30, 2018) The Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72) and the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Mason (DDG 87) from Destroyer Squadron 2 transit the Atlantic Ocean. The USS Abraham Lincoln Carrier Strike Group and USS Harry S. Truman Carrier Strike Group are participating in dual-carrier sustainment and qualification operations in the Atlantic Ocean. In addition to demonstrating the Navy's inherent flexibility and scalability, this evolution provides the opportunity to conduct complex, multi-unit training to enhance maritime interoperability and combat readiness, and prepare the Navy to protect our homeland and preserve and promote peace anywhere around the world.
