The Under Secretary of the Army, the Honorable Ryan D. McCarthy, meets with Sharon Wood, Dean of Cockrell Engineering School, at the University of Texas in Austin, Texas, Aug. 8, 2018. McCarthy toured the Cockrell School, speaking with instructors and students about various engineering projects the students are currently designing. The visit is a lead up to the U.S. Army Futures Command activation later in August. Army senior leaders chose Austin for its headquarters location by evaluating locations with significant technology talent, research and development investment, academic and private sector innovation and positive quality of life.
