Shay Razmi, right, assigned to Naval Medical Center San Diego, talks to a veteran who has received dental treatment from the staff of NMCSD on the first day of the Orange County Stand Down taking place on the grounds of Santa Ana College in Santa Ana, Calif., Sept. 17-18. The two-day event aims to provide basic human services to homeless and at-risk veterans and their families including medical, dental and vision exams, counseling and access to Department of Veterans Affairs personnel and other resources on-site. The NMCSD staff, which has volunteered medical care to homeless veterans for 22 years, performed 50 examinations and more than 80 tooth extractions during the first day of the event.
