A Mi-17 helicopter delivers a pallet of fire wood to an Afghan National Army combat outpost in Dai Chopan, Zabul province, Afghanistan, Sept. 8, using a sling load method to deliver the cargo. A coalition aircrew of Afghan, U.S. and Lithuanian airmen from the Kandahar Air Wing, Kandahar Airfield, Afghanistan comprise the only Afghan Air Wing to make weekly operational sling load deliveries throughout the country. Afghan Air Force Mi-17s can externally sling load more than 8,500 pounds of oversized or bulky cargo.
