    180712-D-WR005-922 JOINT BASE PEARL HARBOR-HICKAM, Hawaii (July, 12, 2018) An Army helicopter pilot conducts pre-flight safety checks following a brief to actor patients who are en route to Tripler Army Medical Center to receive simulated care for mock injuries during the U.S. Navy’s Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) exercise on Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, as part of the humanitarian assistance and disaster relief portion of the training event July 12. Regional Health Command-Pacific Soldiers and civilians participated in the statewide medical response training to enhance operability, test communication and exercise crisis response capabilities amongst interagency partners. Twenty-five nations, 46 ships, five submarines, about 200 aircraft and 25,000 personnel are participating in RIMPAC from June 27 to Aug. 2 in and around the Hawaiian Islands and Southern California. The world’s largest international maritime exercise, RIMPAC provides a unique training opportunity while fostering and sustaining cooperative relationships among participants critical to ensuring the safety of sea lanes and security of the world’s oceans.
