NAVAL STATION GUANTANAMO BAY, Cuba (July 4, 2018) - Rear Adm. John C. Ring, commander of Joint Task Force Guantanamo, speaks to Cmdr. Jeff Betz, executive officer of Whidbey Island-Class Dock Landing Ship USS Gunston Hall (LSD 44) after the ship moored at Naval Station Guantanamo Bay for a scheduled port visit. Gunston Hall is deployed to the U.S. 4th Fleet area of operations supporting Southern Seas 2018, which is an annual collaborative deployment in the U.S. Southern Command area of responsibility where a task groups conduct a variety of exercises and multinational exchanges to enhance interoperability, increase regional stability, and build and maintain regional relationships with countries through joint, multinational and interagency exchanges and cooperation.
