NAVAL STATION GUANTANAMO BAY, Cuba (July 4, 2018) - Capt. John Fischer, commanding officer of Naval Station Guantanamo Bay, is piped aboard Whidbey Island-Class Dock Landing Ship USS Gunston Hall (LSD 44) as the ship pulls into Naval Station Guantanamo Bay for a scheduled port visit. Gunston Hall is deployed to the U.S. 4th Fleet area of operations supporting Southern Seas 2018, which is an annual collaborative deployment in the U.S. Southern Command area of responsibility where a task groups conduct a variety of exercises and multinational exchanges to enhance interoperability, increase regional stability, and build and maintain regional relationships with countries through joint, multinational and interagency exchanges and cooperation.
