NHARNG 1st Lt. Katrina Simpson, an infantry officer with Mountain Company, works with Salvadoran soldiers and firefighters to complete a rope system spanning the Lempa River in El Salvador June 7. The swift water rescue training, led by Maj. Brian Fernandes, deputy commander, 12th Civil Support Team, brought NH Guardsmen, Salvadoran soldiers and firefighters together to focus on sharing ideas and best practices for rescue techniques to improve interoperability between civilian and military personnel. The training mission was coordinated through the NHNG-El Salvador State Partnership Program, which links a state’s National Guard with the armed forces of a partner country in a cooperative, mutually beneficial relationship.(Photo by Sgt.
