U.S. Army Spc. Joshua Caldwell, an unmanned aerial systems maintainer for the Special Troops Battalion, 1st Brigade, 34th Infantry Division, Minnesota National Guard, and a native of Redwing, Minn., checks the belt on a UAS launcher during preflight inspections at Forward Operating Base Sharana Aug. 25. Caldwell’s unit deployed in July and is augmenting the 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Inf. Div., TF Duke, UAS team. UAS provides commanders intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance capabilities.
