Taylor Filkins (right) spread and smooth freshly poured concrete to form a new basketball court at the Pater van der Pluym School in Brownsweg, Suriname, Aug. 8. Groeneweg, from Armour, S.D., Bertram and Filkins, both from Rapid City, S.D., are assigned to the South Dakota Army National Guard's 155th Engineering Company, which is in Suriname as part of the 2011 New Horizons training exercise, a joint humanitarian mission between the U.S. Southern Command and the Suriname government.
