Staff Sgt. Ben Von Eye smooths newly poured concrete, which will serve as a basketball court at the Pater van der Pluym School in Brownsweg, Suriname, Aug. 8. Von Eye, from Box Elder, S.D., is a construction supervisor assigned to the South Dakota Army National Guard's 155th Engineering Company, which is in Suriname as part of the 2011 New Horizons training exercise, a joint humanitarian mission between the U.S. Southern Command and the Suriname government.
