Lance Cpl. Matthew A. Ivey, a Lubbock, Texas, native and rifleman, Black Sea Rotational Force 11, hands off his M-16 to an Azerbaijani soldier to give the opportunity to familiarize him with a U.S.-issued weapon. Marines from Black Sea Rotational Force 11 trained with Azerbaijan’s Operational Capabilities and Concepts Battalion in close-quarters, combat marksmanship to build proficiency and develop interoperability in counterinsurgency and peacekeeping operations in a combined-forces environment. The Azerbaijani troops mark the fourth cycle of partner nations from the Black Sea, Balkan and Caucasus regions to train in the Babadag Training Area since April.
