Specialist Benjamin Retz,389th Engineer Battalion, 416th Theater Engineer Command, recovers from the effects of exposure to CS gas after visit to the NBC chamber at Devens Reserve Forces Training Area on April 18, 2018. Retz and 17 competitors from the 76th Operational Response Command, 412th Theater Engineer Command (TEC), 416th TEC and 99th Readiness Division were exposed to CS gas, commonly known as tear gas, for two-minutes during a “mystery event” for the competition. Mystery events are designed to bring the competitors outside their comfort zone and test bearing and adaptability to unknown situations.
