The Minnesota National Guard assisted their North Dakota National Guard neighbors in their flood response effort in Minot, N.D., July 6. The Minnesota National Guard will conduct levee patrols, man traffic control points, and ready quick reaction forces over the next four weeks giving some relief to hundreds of North Dakota National Guard soldiers and airmen who have been on active duty for 40-60 days. The Minnesota soldiers are from the Willmar-based 682nd Engineering Battalion and the 1st Battalion, 151st Field Artillery from Montevideo. Staff Sgt. Michael Lemmons, 426 Signal, North Dakota National Guard and Spc. Brad Baumgartner, Marshall-based A Battery, 1st Battalion, 151st Field Artillery, control the access to a flooded neighborhood.
