GREAT LAKES, Ill. (March 15, 2018) Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy (MCPON) Steven Giordano (right) talks with recruits about new training at the Navy’s only boot camp, Recruit Training Command (RTC), March 15. MCPON was on hand at RTC to see changes in the curriculum to a more intensive hands-on training. RTC is approximately eight weeks and all enlistees into the U.S. Navy begin their careers at the command. Training includes physical fitness, seamanship, firearms, firefighting and shipboard damage control along with lessons in Navy heritage and core values, teamwork and discipline.
