Gunnery Sgt. Matthew Forsstrom, a flightline division chief with Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 463 (HMH-463), displays his memorial bracelet and unit patch upon completion of the squadron’s memorial hike, Marine Corps Base Hawaii, Jan. 11, 2018. The hike commemorated the 12 Marines from the squadron who were lost in a CH-53E crash while conducting training operations in 2016. While the hike was a solemn reminder of those the squadron lost, it also served as an event to help celebrate the Marines’ lives and the proud traditions of HMH-463.
