Residential lots in Clearlake, California continue to be cleared of debris caused by the October 2017 wildfires. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is managing the debris removal program for Lake, Mendocino, Napa and Sonoma counties following devastating wildfires in October 2017 under the direction of FEMA, and in partnership federal, state and local agencies. USACE is seeking the most efficient and fiscally responsible manner of conducting the debris removal program, in accordance with federal contracting laws and regulations.

The Consolidated Debris Removal Program is a two-phased process – Phase 1 was the removal of household hazardous waste (HHW) by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the California Department of Toxic Substance Control. Phase 2 is the removal other fire-related debris from structures destroyed by the fire and is managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers
