171127-N-QM691-339 AMAZON RIVER, Brazil (Nov. 27, 2017) Suboficial Delmo Mauricio de Oliveira, a Brazilian senior enlisted medical technician, prepares a shot for a 14-year-old indigenous boy aboard NAsH Soares de Meirelles on the Amazon River in Brazil, November 27. The boy had a gunshot wound in the hand. After the injury, the boy’s family had hailed NAsH Soares de Meirelles, which was passing along the river, and had used a small boat to bring him to the ship. Barlow is a member of a team of five U.S. Navy doctors who are engaging in a month-long humanitarian mission up the Amazon River. The team is working with the Brazilian Navy to deliver healthcare to some of the most isolated people in the world. (U.S. Navy photo by Mass Communication Specialist 2nd Class Andrew Brame/Released)
