The Oler family stands to be recognized during the lottery portion of the 20th Annual Randy Oler Memorial Operation Toy Drop at the Green Ramp passenger terminal on Pope Field, North Carolina Dec. 1, 2017.
Founded by then- Staff Sgt. Class Randy Oler in 1998, Operation Toy Drop is an annual airborne operation which brings in jump masters from multiple partner nations to train U.S. paratroopers and as a way to give back to the community and help children in need through donated toys.
Oler passed away in 2004 while performing jump master duties, but thanks to the efforts of friends and family, the operation continued and grew into the world’s largest combined airborne operation with eight partner nation paratroopers participating.
