The Oler family receives a folded flag in honor of Sgt. 1st Class Randy Oler from a Soldier assigned to the U.S. Army Golden Knights parachuting team prior to airborne operations during the 20th Annual Randy Oler Memorial Operation Toy Drop at Sicily Drop Zone on Fort Bragg, North Carolina Dec. 2, 2017.
Founded by then- Staff Sgt. Class Randy Oler in 1998, Operation Toy Drop is an annual airborne operation which brings in jump masters from multiple partner nations to train U.S. paratroopers and as a way to give back to the community and help children in need through donated toys.
Oler passed away in 2004 while performing jump master duties, but thanks to the efforts of friends and family, the operation continued and grew into the world’s largest combined airborne operation with eight partner nation paratroopers participating.
