Maj. Gen. Darrell Guthrie, commanding general for the United States Army Civil Affairs & Psychological Operations Command (Airborne) talks to the Oler family during the lottery portion of the 20th Annual Randy Oler Memorial Operation Toy Drop Dec. 1, 2017 at the Green Ramp Passenger Terminal on Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
Founded by then- Staff Sgt. Class Randy Oler in 1998, Operation Toy Drop is an annual airborne operation which brings in jump masters from multiple partner nations to train U.S. paratroopers and as a way to give back to the community and help children in need through donated toys.
Oler passed away in 2004 while performing jump master duties, but thanks to the efforts of friends and family, the operation continued and grew into the world’s largest combined airborne operation with eight partner nation paratroopers participating.
