171128-N-QM691-0036 AMAZON RIVER, Brazil (Nov. 28, 2017) Commander Carlos Marco, Manaus Naval Polyclinic Director, gives a lecture on parasites aboard NAsH Soares de Meirelles on the Amazon River in Brazil, November 28. The five U.S. Navy doctors in attendance are engaging in a month-long humanitarian mission on the Amazon River. The team is working with the Brazilian Navy to deliver healthcare to some of the most isolated people in the world. As the team sails from one village to the next, they use the time for medical lectures and sharing best practices for healthcare in riverine environments.
